Routine and Preventative Services

Yearly Health Exams

Yearly health examinations are an important step towards preventing illnesses, diseases, and treating conditions in their early stages. Yearly health exams also ensure your pet is healthy and up-to-date on their vaccines and medications.

Vaccinations

Puppies and kittens typically receive three doses of vaccines. Adult cats and dogs who have missed vaccinations or never been vaccinated typically receive two doses of vaccines. After this initial period, cats and dogs need annual re-vaccination to keep their immunity up-to-date.

Whether your pet is young or old, these layers of protection defend against specific diseases that can be debilitating and fatal. We recognize vaccinations are extremely important and we’re happy to explain vaccine procedure and options to any interested owners and answer any questions during this process.

Parasite Control

The best tool at our disposal against parasites - such as ticks, fleas, and worms - is preventative medicine. That’s why we have created parasite control and treatment plans.

Ticks are active when the temperature reaches 4 degrees Celsius. Fleas can invade quickly, growing from a single female to thousands of eggs in a month. Worms can be contracted from contact with contaminated areas or animals. Parasites can carry many diseases and infestations pose a danger to your pet.

Early detection of parasites makes the process of treatment much easier. The best way to find out if your pet has been infected is to schedule an appointment. We’ll complete the necessary tests and advise you on an exact course of treatment.

Dental Care

Although it’s often overlooked, the truth is that your pet’s dental care does matter. Unlike most humans who brush on a regular basis, your dog or cat’s mouth can quickly become a breeding ground for bacteria and lead to a number of health complications.

Failing to perform dental care on your pet can lead to periodontal disease. Bacteria are also capable of causing more serious problems, such as liver and heart disease. Our solution for dental care is an educated home care program punctuated by annual check-ups and a professional care.

During a dental visit, we will educate you on the best ways to accomplish day to day dental care for your pet and may recommended professional dental cleaning or tooth extractions if necessary.

Veterinary Nutrition

Pet owners have lots of choices when it comes to pet food and treats, but the truth is that not all of these options are created equally.

It’s been shown that proper nutrition has a direct effect on your pet’s health. Without proper nutrition, a pet can have many different health issues, ranging from digestive problems and skin conditions to recurrent ear infections.

As a vet clinic, we can provide your pet with prescription diets that target specific issues to make sure they receive the best possible diet for their needs. In addition to helping you identify the right diet, we can test for food allergies and other health conditions caused by diet.

Microchip

Getting your pet microchipped is a great option. The microchip is a rice sized, radio-frequency identification device not a GPS tracking device. Each chip has a unique ID number which pet ownership information is registered to. Microchipping is quick and painless and lasts for your pet's lifetime.

Microchipping your pet is one of the best chances of recovering your pet if it is lost. When your pet is found, any veterinary clinic or shelter can scan the microchip, and since it contains your information, can reach out to return your pet. Microchipping also serves as permanent identification which cannot be lost or removed.
